The Old Man's Trophy
Scrapbook

My daughter, Annie Beesler Stecher, was among the fortunate few to ever be drawn for a

Delta Herd Bison permit. I’ve been on many hunts with my daughter, but this was by far the

Coldest outing we had ever experienced. When Annie shot this trophy bull it was 72 degrees

Below zero! By the time we got the animal field dressed and ready to pack out, the transmission

In my truck was a goner. We had our good friends Danny Shepherd and Mark Marcott come up

To Delta Junction to help us haul our trailer and bounty back to civilization. Subsequently, Annie

Was featured in a popular Alaskan magazine covering her trophy conquest and her many other

Alaskan experiences. She now allows me to proudly display her prize in my trophy room. And by

The way, this bison was some of the best eating I’ve ever had. I returned to Delta Junction a few

Weeks later when a local mechanic was able to get my truck back up and running. It wasn’t nearly as cold then, only about 25 below!
